Founded in 1971 by His late Majesty King Hassan II, The Hassan II Golf Trophy is the longest running sports event held in Morocco. The tournament creation coincides with the inauguration of one of the Late King's great accomplishments: Royal Golf Dar Es Salam.

During the last 35 years, the event has attracted some of the greatest golfers in the game, thus becoming a tournament recognized all around the world.

Although these professionals may have brought certain notoriety to the tournament, the Hassan II Golf Trophy has also launched the careers of the likes of Payne Stewart, Vijay Singh and David Toms.

The patriarch of the Trophy is no other than the legendary Billy Casper, who comes to Rabat each year to the tournament to provide his support to the organizing committee.

This year, 24 top professional players and 36 "men" amateurs will be taking part in this fascinating event whose prize money amounts to 600.000.00 US$.

The Lalla Meryem Cup will be taking place at the same time as the Hassan II Golf Trophy on the blue course of the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam. 12 Ladies professionals and 36 "ladies" amateurs will be participating in this prestigious pro-am dedicated to female players.

The prize money for the Lalla Meryem Cup has been fixed to 120.000.00 US$.

Reporters from the four corners of the Globe flock to Royal Golf Dar Es Salam to cover what some have described as "The world's greatest Pro-Am". The friendship Cup adds a touch of glamour when legends from the world of sports rub elbows with Stars of show-business for 18 holes of fun and competition, to the delight of the galleries.

With every year, the growing galleries of spectators come to witness high-level competition and are able to mingle with the greatest names in the world of golf. Champions, media, stars of showbiz, bustling galleries: All the required ingredients for a great event ready to celebrate its 35th year of existence in the company of the World's greatest.
